Who I Am
As part of my commitment to supporting people through emotionally complex experiences, my work has been featured in the Counselling Directory.
In my recent article, I explore the nuanced and often conflicting feelings that can follow an abortion, and how compassion, curiosity, and therapeutic support can help people make sense of what they’re carrying. Read my published article
I have had a variety of work experience in the course of my career to date. I spent some time working in the Civil Service and then spent over 15 years working as a management consultant, including for one of the ‘Big 4’ for nine years. My initial degree was in Social and Political Science and I undertook an MBA whilst working. I hold a BACP accredited Postgraduate Diploma in Integrative Counselling and Coaching.
I spent three years volunteering for Choices Islington, a crisis pregnancy charity, where I focused on post-abortion counselling. I learnt a lot through this experience and came to see how important it was to have a service that specialised in this area, and I wanted to continue to provide this for a broader group of women.
I currently volunteer for Cruse Bereavement who support individuals wanting counselling following the death of a loved one.
I seek to work in a caring, non-judgemental and warm way and believe we can laugh as well as cry along the way. In psychotherapy speak, I work ‘integratively’, which to me means utilising different therapeutic approaches depending on the individual and their needs at any one time.
As a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, I comply with their Ethical Framework.
